You can have the best cylinder head porting job in the world, but if the intake port leading to it cylinder head port does not match, you will not take advantage of the cylinder head improvements. Port matching is the process of taking two ports and making sure they match at the point where they are connected. In production of engine parts there are small variations. Port matching is done by hand to ensure that the two ports align perfectly.
